KIMAX® Laboratory Glass Drain and Vent Systems

Kimax® Drainline Systems are designed for gravity flow. Borosilicate glass pipe and fittings are joined with bead-to-bead (B/B) and bead-to-plain end (B/P) compression couplings in diameters 1 1/2“ through 6“. Kimax® UL Classified Borosilicate glass conforms to ASTM Specification C 1053-90, Federal Specification DD-G-541-B, and Military Specification MIL-P-22561-B (YD) as manufactured by SCHOTT.  Glass-to-glass connections shall be made with KIMAX compression type bead-to-bead and bead-to-plain end couplings – article numbers 6650 and 6661 respectively.  Coupling’s outer shell, bolt and nut to be made from 300 series stainless steel.  Bead-to-plain end coupling outer shell must encapsulate compression liner to prevent cold flow and ensure leak-free joint.  Inner seal ring is made of tetra-fluoroethylene. System shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations and the governing plumbing code.

KNIGHT-WARE sumps provide positive and permanent insurance against acid and chemical attack. It does not depend upon a glaze or coating of any kind for its acid proof qualities - it’s in the body itself. Unlike some plastic sumps, which can be attacked by organic solvents which are normally present in laboratory wastes, KNIGHT-WARE is universally acid and corrosion proof regardless of the concentration of the acids handled. The only exceptions are hydrofluoric acid and strong caustic solutions.
